Stephanie Hales ensures interdisciplinary operations and stakeholder requirements are highly integrated. Her portfolio includes receipt/scientific technical support, data analytics, stakeholder engagement, quality, training and research. She has over 20 years’ experience in forensic science, having worked in both scientific and senior leadership roles at NSW Police and FASS, with a focus on driving organisational change. She has managed the implementation of new services and the design and commissioning of laboratories.
Stephanie holds a Bachelor of Science Applied Chemistry with Honours in Forensic Science and carried out doctoral research in gunshot residue and explosives and Honours research in illicit drugs. She has provided extensive expert testimony in Courts in NSW. Stephanie has acted as industry supervisor for numerous research projects and has published refereed papers, a book chapter and a large number of conference presentations. She is a member of several advisory groups.
