Results
Clinicians and patients rely on us to deliver timely and accurate results, while always maintaining patient privacy.
Results can be delivered in a variety of convenient formats.
Our preference is to deliver pathology results to healthcare professionals electronically, which is faster and more secure, convenient and sustainable.
eReporting
We are changing the way we send pathology reports to our customers. eReporting is our new electronic pathology reporting system designed to deliver test reports directly into your Practice Management Software (PMS).
This initiative is part of the Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) program, which will provide a secure, holistic and integrated view of the care patients receive across the NSW public health system.
Our aim is to improve patient care, reduce administrative burden and ensure secure, timely access to pathology results.
We will start to rollout eReporting on 25 March 2026 to our customers in the Hunter and New England region and will continue to roll out it out across NSW in coming months.
Find out more about eReporting.
HealthLink electronic results
We offer secure electronic downloads of your patient’s pathology reports via an external service, HealthLink.
HealthLink will deliver pathology results straight into your practice software, helping you manage your patients’ needs.
Clinicians can be connected to a patient’s pathology test results much faster, saving time and money when compared to paper-based workflows, such as faxing and mailing out pathology results.
Clinicians need to complete two steps to be set up with electronic results:
- If you don’t already have a Healthlink account, sign up via the Healthlink website where you will receive a unique EDI code for your practice.
- Once your EDI is received, fill out the NSW Health Pathology electronic results registration with the relevant information.

Clinicians in some areas can access public pathology test results via our secure PathWorks mobile app.
Clinicians at the following locations can register for access to PathWorks:

It takes just minutes to complete the online sign-up form and download the app.
PathWorks was rigorously designed and tested to meet world best practice for secure delivery of vital pathology information.

We will also send a copy of all results communicated via phone via the usual methods. We attend to these as soon as possible and we’re always available to discuss results with treating clinicians.
Do you upload results to My Health Record?
NSW Health Pathology routinely uploads most non-sensitive pathology results to My Health Record.
However, we are currently unable to upload outpatient and private patient results due to system issues related to patient consent.
The Australian Digital Health Agency has now removed this consent requirement and introduced new legislation for non-sensitive pathology results to be uploaded by default.
These changes are expected to transition into effect throughout 2026.
We’re working as quickly as possible to roll out new systems to comply with the change and ensure all our patients and treating teams have consistent access to results in My Health Record.
Fax
We prefer to deliver results electronically but can fax results for both routine and urgent results if needed.
Routine results will arrive throughout the day as they become available, while urgent results are prioritised and faxed immediately once released.
Hardcopy
Hardcopy results can you mailed to you. Urgent re-prints can be organised when necessary.
