About our Cancer Genomics service
Genomic testing provides an accurate cancer diagnosis and can indicate a patient's prognosis. It also allows the treating clinicians to select the most effective treatment.
We can also predict how cancers will respond to treatment, such as surgery or drug therapy, so oncologists (cancer specialists) can match patients to more targeted and personalised treatments with fewer side effects.
Genomics can also predict a person’s risk of developing a particular set of cancers, so their treating clinician can put pre-emptive monitoring and detection strategies in place.
Our Cancer Genomics teams, in collaboration with industry partners, are developing timely, more comprehensive tests to find gene variations linked to hereditary and non-hereditary cancers, including:
- breast cancer
- ovarian cancer
- bowel cancer
- lung cancer
- melanoma
- leukemia
- lymphoma
- myeloma
- solid tumour
