Perinatal Post-mortem Facilitator, Clinical Midwife Specialist
Awabakal.Fiona O’Shannessy is a Clinical Midwife Specialist working for the Perinatal Post-mortem Service. She has been a practising midwife for over 35 years. Her experience in remote and regional Australia has taught her the importance of having dedicated clinicians as a point of contact for bereaved families who are considering or have consented to a perinatal post-mortem.
She believes strongly in education and enjoys travelling to regional hospitals to meet and support colleagues. She hopes to increase the confidence and knowledge clinicians have when undertaking conversations with families considering a perinatal post-mortem.
