Rifky Bal­ga­hom was the Senior Hos­pi­tal Sci­en­tist in charge of the Micro­bi­ol­o­gy Lab­o­ra­to­ry at Nepean Hos­pi­tal over the last 10 years. Rifky is cur­rent­ly under­tak­ing a sec­ond­ment on the Fusion QMIS (Qual­i­ty Man­age­ment Infor­ma­tion Sys­tem) Project as a Qual­i­ty Man­age­ment Con­sul­tant. Pri­or to this, he has had the oppor­tu­ni­ty to have worked at all lev­els with­in the micro­bi­ol­o­gy dis­ci­pline start­ing as a Tech­ni­cal Assis­tant at Liv­er­pool Hos­pi­tal in 2007. His inter­ests lie pri­mar­i­ly in the devel­op­ment and enhance­ments of lab­o­ra­to­ry work­flows, par­tic­u­lar­ly through imple­ment­ing syn­dromic infec­tious dis­eases mul­ti­plex PCR assays.
