Local Pathology Director, Southern NSW
He/him. Darug.Matthew Watts is a Clinical Microbiologist (FRCPA) and Infectious Diseases Physician (FRACP). He is the Local Pathology Director for Southern NSW and a Senior Staff Specialist based at the Institute for Clinical Pathology and Medical Research – NSW health Pathology, Westmead and Westmead Hospital, Western Sydney Local Health District. He is also an Associate Professor at the University of Sydney.
In addition to Southern NSW, Matthew has supervisory roles at laboratories throughout the West, Regional and Rural network. He is committed to maintaining excellence in patient care and service delivery in both metropolitan and regional areas. He has a PhD and current research interests include the optimisation of diagnostics and therapeutics, particularly with regard to emerging, chronic, and opportunistic infections.
