NSW Health Pathology congratulates UTS on the 25th anniversary of the Bachelor of Forensic Science degree and the 20th anniversary of the UTS Centre for Forensic Science.
This degree was the first of its kind in Australia and is recognised for producing future leaders in the areas of biology, chemistry, crime scene investigation, digital forensic science, research and innovation.
Acting Director of NSW Health Pathology’s Forensic & Analytical Science Service, Dr Stephanie Hales, was in the first group of forensic science graduates and also completed her PhD in gunshot residue analysis at UTS.
Stephanie then took up one of the first civilian forensic science positions at NSW Police and was instrumental in setting up their gunshot residue testing capability across the state.
“The forensic program at UTS has clearly helped shape my career and now working for one of the biggest employers of forensic science graduates at the Forensic & Analytical Science Service I very much benefit from the quality of the UTS graduates,” Stephanie said.
“UTS is responsible for consistently challenging the field to be better and for driving pivotal research with industry partners to make a difference.
“On behalf of NSW Health Pathology, we value immensely the partnership with UTS and hope it continues to thrive.”
