Local Pathology Director, Western Sydney and Director of Immunopathology, NSW Health Pathology-ICPMR, Westmead
Darug.Prof Brown manages the pathology service for Western Sydney and is responsible for ensuring the connectedness of pathology with other clinical services in Western Sydney Local Health District.
In the diagnostic sphere, Prof Brown translates research assays into the routine immunopathology laboratory to ensure access for all patients for less commonly done immunological tests, including detection of central nervous system antibodies.
He’s the Co-Director of the Centre for Immunology and Allergy Research at the Westmead Institute. He is Senior Staff Specialist in Immunopathology and Clinical Immunology at ICPMR and Westmead Hospital, funded by NHMRC and MRFF.
David’s clinical and research interests are in the field of inflammation. Clinically, David is interested in the consequences of inflammatory diseases on the CNS, vasculitides and autoimmune disease. In research, he continues to study mechanisms of neural injury to identify new testing methods and ways of treating disease.
