As Oper­a­tions Direc­tor Crim­i­nal­is­tics, Sharon over­sees test­ing in Foren­sic Biology/DNA, Illic­it Drug Analy­sis and Chem­i­cal Crim­i­nal­is­tics, sup­port­ing crim­i­nal and coro­nial inves­ti­ga­tions includ­ing sex­u­al assaults, homi­cides and iden­ti­fi­ca­tion of unknown human remains. Sharon has 30 years’ expe­ri­ence in Foren­sic Sci­ence and expe­ri­enced first­hand the advances in tech­nol­o­gy and how they have been applied to foren­sic inves­ti­ga­tions and the Jus­tice sys­tem in NSW. She played a key role in the imple­men­ta­tion of automa­tion and expert inter­pre­ta­tion sys­tems, pro­vides lec­tures to stake­hold­ers and has pro­vid­ed exten­sive expert tes­ti­mo­ny in crim­i­nal tri­als. Sharon holds a Bach­e­lor of Arts (Hons) Nat­ur­al Sci­ence, a Mas­ter of Sci­ence and a Mas­ter of Sci­ence Man­age­ment. She is a NATA asses­sor and was part of a team of Aus­tralian biol­o­gists sec­ond­ed with the Aus­tralian Fed­er­al Police to assist in iden­ti­fy­ing the unknown deceased fol­low­ing the Box­ing Day tsuna­mi in Thailand.
