Supports all staff to continuously and measurably improve the quality, safety and experience of our services. Includes support for continuous quality improvement, clinical incident management, complaints management, quality assurance and accreditation, and policy development for quality and safety.
Dr Michael Legg PhD FAICD FAIDH FFSc(RCPA) first trained as a scientist and researcher in physiology and pathology. He went on to lead not-for-profit and for-profit healthcare organisations including a pathology practice that won the Australian Quality Award. For the last 20 years he has been a consultant health informatician including time as the President of the Health Informatics Society of Australia.
He was the foundation Chair of the RCPA Informatics Committee and leader of the PITUS Project as well as leader of Standards Australia and HL7 Standards Committees for pathology informatics. He has participated in National Committees related to quality, Medicare benefits and health regulation and policy. He continues as a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Health Innovation.
Dr Legg has been a member of the NSW Health Pathology Board for six years and represents the Board in the Quality and Patient Safety Sub-committee, Clinical Council and the Fusion Stakeholder Committee.
Supports delivery of efficient, effective and transparent services. Includes legal, risk management, internal audit, policy, privacy, records management and GIPA (freedom of information) functions.
Ensures responsible financial management of public funding; financial and management accounting; tax; revenue; billing; and private practice arrangements. Manages procurement, fleet management, business development and environmental initiatives to increase sustainability.
Our Strategic Leadership Team (SLT) enacts the strategy of NSW Health Pathology and directions of the NSW Health Pathology Board. Members ensure we deliver quality, human-centred pathology and forensic and analytical science services across NSW.
