Senior Research Scientist

As the Senior Research Sci­en­tist, Dr Beth Caru­a­na leads the lab­o­ra­to­ry team at the NSW Health Statewide Biobank (NSWHSB). NSWHSB is a pro­cess­ing and stor­age facil­i­ty for human spec­i­mens sourced from eth­i­cal­ly approved stud­ies. With a PhD in cell biol­o­gy and indus­try expe­ri­ence in anti­body drug devel­op­ment Beth brings expe­ri­ence in down­stream appli­ca­tions of pri­ma­ry cells and cell-based assays to aid SOP devel­op­ment. Beth over­sees all lab­o­ra­to­ry prac­tices at NSWHSB includ­ing equip­ment, train­ing of lab­o­ra­to­ry staff, SOP and data­base devel­op­ment. Beth is an active mem­ber of the biobank­ing com­mu­ni­ties ABNA (Aus­tralasian Biospec­i­men Net­work Asso­ci­a­tion) and ISBER (Inter­na­tion­al Soci­ety for Bio­log­i­cal and Envi­ron­men­tal Repositories).
