Our Human Resources Manager for NSW Health Pathology East and South supports 1,800 staff.
It’s not the enormity of the responsibility that is impressive, but how it’s done.
Siobhan is passionate about development, training, data and psychological safety in the workplace. She lets people work with a level of autonomy and questioning that brings out their best.
With her guidance, managers are improving interactions with staff and giving clear support and guidance. A new generation of leaders are emerging.
Issues and conversations are approached with spirit of enquiry, never judgement. She moves mindsets from ‘mistakes’ to ‘opportunities’ by reshaping perspectives and conversational language.
Siobhan uses her analytical skills to interrogate data and then looks for solutions. She encourages others to also use this strategy in their work. She has built a strong HR team and mentors and coaches at all levels of our organisation.
When discussions with colleagues or surveys identify knowledge gaps and service risks, she finds solutions: data literacy programs for scientists; morphology training for haematology labs; alternative development for aspiring leaders; and a Let’s Talk program for managers to address performance, succession and more.
If that’s not enough, she produces a weekly email memoir. “Motivational Monday” encourages others to give good feedback and reserve judgement.
