Chemical Pathology brings together science and medicine. It is responsible for more than 1000 orderable tests, 4075 unique reportable results and the performance of more than 20 million tests per year within NSWHP.
The Chemical Pathology Harmonisation Project is a complex and comprehensive program of works that entailed a review of all Chemical Pathology Test Names, Reference Intervals and Report Comments. The review and harmonisation work will impact many of the broader transformative projects in NSWHP and is a new benchmark in Australia.
While the project work is complex, the impact on our patients is simple – it ensures that no matter where you live in NSW, your age or your culture, you can trust that your pathology tests and results are not only of the highest quality, but have been reviewed to ensure they are being interpreted in line with the best available scientific evidence. The data and the associated interpretation provide standardisation in practice, and allows for equal access to the latest clinical care and treatment methods when they are most needed.
