Chief Medical Information Officer & Director Statewide Clinical Services
Awabakal.Stephen graduated from university in 1976 and was later admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists in 1985 and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia in 1986.
He has worked as a Staff Specialist in Anatomical Pathology in public practice, has a passionate interest in cytology and in breast and thyroid cytology in particular.
Stephen has held a range of senior roles with NSW Health Pathology including Director of Anatomical Pathology, Assistant Director NSWHP-Hunter and Network Director.
He was appointed Executive Director Clinical Services in 2017 and then in 2019, became Chief Medical Information Officer and Director of Statewide Clinical Services.
From January 2020 Stephen also led NSW Health Pathology COVID-19 response as Incident Management Controller. He is also the current Vice President of Public Pathology Australia.

A statewide service delivering a coordinated response for all NSW notifiable diseases in collaboration with the NSW Ministry of Health.
