Local Pathology Director, Illawarra Shoalhaven and Clinical Director of Microbiology
Dharawal.Dr Newton has worked as a Staff Specialist Medical Microbiologist in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since 1996 and has been the Local Pathology Director for the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District since 2017. He has been a Clinical Senior Lecturer with the Graduate School of Medicine, University of Wollongong since 2007. He is a contributing member of the Australian Group on Antimicrobial Resistance (AGAR) and has been an active member of the Wollongong Antimicrobial Resistance Research Alliance (WARRA) since its inception in 2017. He enjoys a collaborative working relationship with clinical partners in the Local Health District and researchers from the University of Wollongong. He is passionate about improving access to high quality and cost effective diagnostic pathology services for the Illawarra and Shoalhaven communities.
