The Rural Health Workforce Incentive Scheme
This NSW Government program recognises current workforce shortages and difficulties maintaining health staff in regional areas.
It delivers incentives of up to $5,000 and $10,000 a year, plus super for eligible positions.
The Welcome Experience
This new service provides essential health workers with the support you need to move to regional communities, settle in and become a local.
It’s tailored to individuals and families.
It can help you decide if a location is a good fit and assist with housing, cultural connections and schools and other education providers.
Salary packaging - remote area benefits
If you live and work in a remote area (as defined by the Australian Tax Office) you could be eligible to package your mortgage interest, rent, home purchase, or housing-related fuel in addition to other salary packaging benefits.

Subsidised airfares to Dubbo for Bourke & Walgett residents
The Air Link Community Fare is available to people who live in the Bourke, Brewarrina, Cobar and Walgett shires.
Flights to and from Dubbo are subsidised, making it easier to get to where you need to be.

CRANAplus Bush Support Services
If you work for us in a remote NSW location you’ll have free access to CRANAplus Bush Support Services.
CRANA provides confidential 24/7 support for remote health workers and their families. Their qualified psychologists include 2 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. Online counselling services are also available.
Rural Health Pro
NSW Health staff can access specially designed and curated Rural Health Pro initiatives to support their wellbeing and help them thrive.
Rural Health Pro connects people and organisations who care about keeping rural communities healthy.
