Enhancing Service Delivery for Bowral Community

Finalist | Keeping people safe and healthy Multi-Function Laboratory Team – Bowral

The mul­ti-func­tion lab­o­ra­to­ry team at Bowral iden­ti­fied the need to adapt their ser­vices to bet­ter serve their com­mu­ni­ty and meet the needs of their patients.

Work­ing col­lab­o­ra­tive­ly across health dis­ci­plines with Bowral Hos­pi­tal, the LHD and South­ern High­lands Pri­vate Hos­pi­tal, the Bowral team imple­ment­ed sev­er­al sig­nif­i­cant changes. This includ­ed extend­ing oper­at­ing hours; facil­i­tat­ing access to Bowral Pub­lic hos­pi­tal, South­ern High­lands Pri­vate Hos­pi­tal and the Can­cer Care Cen­tre; reduc­ing turn-around times for crit­i­cal results; and imple­ment­ing overnight couri­er ser­vices for pro­cess­ing urgent specimens.

The adapt­abil­i­ty and ini­tia­tive shown by the Bowral Lab­o­ra­to­ry Team has result­ed in bet­ter patient care and out­comes for their community.
