Awabakal. Prof Maree Gleeson OAM

Pro­fes­sor Maree Glee­son OAM has a wealth of expe­ri­ence in health, research and inno­va­tion. She is an immu­nol­o­gist who has held lead­er­ship and pro­fes­sion­al posi­tions in health ser­vices, health pol­i­cy, acad­e­mia and med­ical research. She is a non-exec­u­tive direc­tor on sev­er­al boards and a Fel­low of the Aus­tralian Insti­tute of Com­pa­ny Directors. 

Pro­fes­sor Glee­son is an emer­i­tus pro­fes­sor in the Col­lege of Health, Med­i­cine & Well­be­ing at the Uni­ver­si­ty of New­cas­tle. She is inter­na­tion­al­ly recog­nised for her research on the devel­op­ment of immu­ni­ty in chil­dren and the impact of res­pi­ra­to­ry infec­tions in elite ath­letes. Pro­fes­sor Glee­son was a for­mer Direc­tor of the Hunter Med­ical Research Insti­tute and led the devel­op­ment of the Cen­tral Coast Research Institute.
