Mar­tin Cano­va was appoint­ed Direc­tor, Strat­e­gy and Trans­for­ma­tion in 2020, to set the strate­gic direc­tion of the organ­i­sa­tion and trans­form the deliv­ery of ser­vices across the state.

Mar­t­in’s role is to lead strate­gic plan­ning and cap­i­tal infra­struc­ture rede­vel­op­ment, per­for­mance and busi­ness intel­li­gence teams and asset man­age­ment. Mar­tin is also respon­si­ble for man­age­ment of the organisation’s Statewide Point of Care Test­ing and Genomics ser­vices, and over­sees the organisation’s six Clin­i­cal Streams.

Mar­tin leads NSW Health Pathology’s inno­va­tion and trans­for­ma­tion pro­gram which includes man­age­ment of the Pro­gram Ser­vices, Change Man­age­ment, Redesign and oper­a­tional implementation.

Mar­tin has more than 20 years’ health expe­ri­ence as a clin­i­cian, health­care con­sul­tant and health man­ag­er in both gov­ern­ment and pri­vate organ­i­sa­tions in Aus­tralia, the Mid­dle East and South-East Asia.

Before join­ing NSW Health Pathol­o­gy, Mar­tin was Direc­tor of Trans­for­ma­tion at Trans­port for NSW.
