Cliff has worked in diagnostic Genetics and Genomics for 20+ years after completing a PhD in Molecular Medicine from the University of Newcastle. Cliff was the supervising scientist in Molecular Genetics at the John Hunter Hospital for many years before taking a position at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne as head of Molecular Diagnostics. Cliff returned to Newcastle and became the Genomics Director for NSW Health Pathology in 2016. Cliff is the current co-chair of the NSW Health IT Infrastructure Committee, a member of NSW Health Genomics Steering Committee as well as a member of the Australian Genomics National Steering Committee. He is committed to the translation of genomics into the health care system. He is also the past principal examiner in Medical Genomics for the RCPA Faculty of Science and has served on a Special Advisory Group for Molecular Pathology for the European Molecular Quality Network.
