The Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) is now in use at Justice Health NSW and at NSW Health Pathology’s John Hunter Hospital Laboratory in Newcastle.

As a historic first for NSW Health, the Single Digital Patient Record is now being used at Justice Health NSW and NSW Health Pathology (John Hunter Hospital Laboratory), marking the first go live of the statewide rollout.

The Single Digital Patient Record is set to transform how people experience and deliver healthcare across NSW Health by bringing patients’ health information together in one secure place, making healthcare more connected and seamless across the state.

This means that when a patient visits any NSW health service, our clinicians and healthcare teams will have access to the right information, at the right time, when it matters most.

The introduction of the Single Digital Patient Record at these first NSW Health sites is a significant milestone and represents an important step in the broader rollout across NSW. Hunter New England Local Health District and remaining NSW Health Pathology Hunter New England sites are scheduled to go live in May 2026.

The program will continue to be introduced in tranches, with Single Digital Patient Record expected to be operational across all NSW Health local health districts and specialty health networks by the end of 2028.

The delivery of the program is focused on a whole-of-health, collaborative approach. Clinicians, patients, carers, consumers, and technical experts are involved and helping to shape it. This is important for making sure it meets the needs of those who use it and supports the delivery of high-quality care.

This achievement reflects the significant work undertaken by all teams across NSW Health to prepare systems, infrastructure and staff for the transition to this exciting once-in-a-generation change.
